Man pleads guilty in connection with teen’s heroin death at hotel

AKRON, Ohio-- A man pleaded guilty on Monday to a charge in connection with the death of a teenager in a hotel room in Green.

Officers and paramedics were called to the Super 8 on Corporate Parkway in Green on April 6. There, they found 16-year-old Andrew Frye dead from injecting heroin.

According to the Summit County Prosecutor's Office, Donald Callaghan, 59, pleaded guilty to possession of heroin. Callaghan's girlfriend, Brenda Frye, 52, sold heroin belonging to Callaghan, to her daughter, Heather. Heather's son, Andrew, died after ingesting the drug.

Heather Frye, Brenda Frye, and another person pleaded guilty in August. They will be sentenced on Oct. 12.

Callaghan will be sentenced on Oct. 26.
