CHESTER TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal golf car crash that killed a Jeromesville man.

The crash happened early Saturday morning in Wayne County.

Authorities say Craig L. Franks, age 42 of Wooster, was driving the golf car on Lehr Road.

The victim, Robert M. Moore, age 49 of Jeromesville, was seated in the front seat.

Franks drove the golf car left of center and off the left side of the road, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. It continued over an embankment and overturned, ejecting everyone on board.

Robert Moore was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.

Authorities say alcohol and speed were factors in the crash.

Franks is charged with OVI, unsafe speed for conditions, and failure to maintain reasonable speed. He also faces additional charges pending the outcome of the blood alcohol test.

Franks, along with a second passenger, were taken to Wooster Community Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
