PORTLAND, Oregon — A man has filed a $670,000 lawsuit after he says his leg was broken in multiple places, in a fight that started when he wouldn’t show his receipt at Costco.

According to The Oregonian, Timothy Walls claims the store did not have a right to detain him and check his receipt, after he went shopping in Jan. 2013. It’s part of the store’s policy to check receipts.

Walls claims in the lawsuit when an employee wouldn’t let go of the shopping cart, he grabbed him by the shirt collar and pulled him away; that’s when, according to the suit, an employee used a ‘martial arts type strike with his leg.’

The Oregonian reports an attorney representing Costco wrote in a motion filed about the incident that Walls’ injuries were a direct result of his conduct when he attacked the employees.
