BRATENAHL, Ohio (WJW) – A man driving a stolen BMW was hospitalized after a police chase and crashing into a Bratenahl police SUV early Monday morning.
According to a report from the Bratenahl Police Department, the chase started around 2:50 a.m. when an officer saw a black BMW speeding North on Eddy Road and going through multiple red lights.
The vehicle went back and forth on Eddy Road before the police officer eventually turned off his lights and sirens as the vehicle continued to travel recklessly, according to the report.
The vehicle came to a stop on Eddy Rd. and St. Clair Avenue and started to do donuts in the intersection. That is when Cleveland police were called as backup.
Eventually, the BMW began doing donuts in the intersection of Eddy Rd. and Lakeshore Boulevard and then on the South and North intersection of Eddy Rd. bridge deck, according to the report.
Two police vehicles were able to pin the car at Eddy Rd. and Lakeshore Blvd. That is when the driver, who was wearing a ski mask, fled on foot North on Eddy Rd.
The driver, later identified as Joseph Littlejohn, was also found with a gun before being arrested and charged with fleeing/eluding officer, resisting officers and having weapon under disability, according to the report.
Littlejohn was also taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries, before being taken to the Cleveland County Jail.
No officers were injured in the crash.
