AKRON, Ohio- A Summit County jury found an Akron man guilty of aggravated murder for the deaths of two women and two men.
Ronald Roberts, Kem Delaney, Maria Nash and Kiana Welch were shot execution style at a Chapel Hill apartment complex on April 18, 2013. Prosecutors said Deshanon Haywood and Derrick Brantley planned to rob Roberts of a large amount of heroin, then killed the four victims to cover it up.
Haywood was convicted in 2014, but was granted a retrial, which was handled by the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office. On Friday, after two days of deliberation, a jury found Haywood guilty for a second time.
He could be sentenced to death, life in prison without the possibility of parole or life in prison with parole after 30 years. The sentencing phase of the trial starts on June 29.
Brantley was already convicted and sentenced to life in prison with no possibility of parole.
