Man charged with vehicular homicide, drug possession in Montville crash that killed teen girl

MONTVILLE TOWNSHIP, Ohio- A Rittman man is facing charges for a head-on collision that killed a 16-year-old girl and injured two other teens.

The crash happened on Aug. 3 on River Styx Road in Montville Township, south of Turnberry Drive. Police said the driver, Jeremy Goodrich, crossed the center line with his Jeep, hitting Katherine Babak’s car.

Babak, a student at Revere High School in Bath Township, died at the scene. Her two passengers were seriously injured.

On Monday, after a three-month investigation, Goodrich was indicted and taken into custody. He’s charged with aggravated vehicular homicide, aggravated vehicular assault, and possession of methamphetamine, heroin and fentanyl.

School officials described Babak as a good student who was well liked. She was also a member of the high school golf team.
