WILLOUGHBY, Ohio – Kenton G. McCourt, 54, was arrested early Friday morning when police discovered he was inside the old Putt-Putt course on Mentor Avenue.
Officers and K9 Rebel responded to a report of suspicious activity and found the gate open.
Police said they spotted a person inside with a head flashlight and crowbar. McCourt was detained shortly after he was seen inside.
McCourt was wearing leather gloves and carrying a large canvas bag. Inside one of the buildings, a purple bag and tools were found.
When police looked around further inside the building it was discovered that several copper pipes and other plumbing fixtures were in a pile nearby.
There was damage to sinks, urinals and a hot water tank from the removal of pipes.
McCourt was charged with breaking and entering, criminals tools, theft and criminal damaging.
He is set to appear in court on July 23.
