CLEVELAND (WJW)-- The man charged in the murder of a 6-year-old Cleveland girl pleaded not guilty in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Thursday morning.
Raysean Howard, 21, was indicted on multiple counts of aggravated murder, felonious assault, attempted murder and improper discharging a firearm into a habitation. A judge set his bond at $1 million during the arraignment.
Lyric-Melodi Lawson was sleeping in her house on East 171st Street in Cleveland on Oct. 5 when shots rang out. The little girl, a first grader at Hannah Gibbons STEM School, suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Howard was arrested in the case on Nov. 13.
