CLEVELAND- A man is brutally attacked inside the bathroom of a downtown shopping mall.  The victim was taken to the hospital, while police continue to look for two suspects.

Around 7:40 a.m. Thursday, Cleveland police say a 48-year-old man was beaten and robbed inside a restroom at the Galleria at Erieview Mall downtown.

"It does shock me, I mean, especially to be 7:40 in the morning. I mean, you would think there would be other people around and I don't know; I guess it can happen anywhere," said one patron.

According to Cleveland police, the man walked into the restroom and saw two males, who appeared to be juveniles, talking.

He went into the stall; he says they stopped talking.  Police say when the man left the stall, the two juveniles punched him in the face, and stole some personal items, before running off.

"I don't really go anywhere alone, so I'm not too worried, I guess and I usually come during like work hours," said another patron.

Police say the two attackers ran to an office building next door.  A security guard told police he saw them run into a bathroom and come out wearing gloves, with their clothing turned inside out; one had removed a hat.

The two suspects were recorded by several surveillance cameras, but investigators say they have not yet been able to look at the video.

"That's concerning. I walk through there every day on my way to work. It's definitely a concern," said a patron.

Hospital officials say the victim is conscious and talking, but was scheduled to have eye surgery on Friday.  Although the man's family did not want to speak on camera, they want other people to be careful.

"It doesn't make me worried about crime. I mean terrible things happen in any community, in any city, but you have to take precautions; but relatively speaking, it's a very rare occurrence, so it doesn't make me fear of feel unsafe; but that's a terrible thing, I'm so sorry to hear that," said one downtown worker.

Anyone with information about the attack is asked to call Cleveland police.
