WICKLIFFE, Ohio — Wickliffe police have arrested a man they believe is responsible for several burglaries and thefts in Lake, Cuyahoga and Ashtabula counties.
According to police, Anthony T. Vanderhoff, 23, was arrested on several charges Tuesday, including burglary, auto theft, theft from an elderly person and credit card theft.
Police said that on Dec. 19, a Wickliffe resident reported her debit card stolen from her home.
Then on Jan. 1, she reported that the glass window pane in her door was broken out. The suspect entered the home, took her car keys, and then loaded the vehicle with several tools, a lawn mower and a snow blower before stealing the car and the property.
The car was recovered several days later after being abandoned in Cleveland, according to police.
Vanderhoff was identified as the suspect, and arrest warrants were issued Tuesday. He was found and arrested in a home at East 149th Street and Westropp Avenue in Cleveland.
Police said Vanderhoff is also the suspect in house burglaries in Mentor and Ashtabula County, a theft in Willowick and a business burglary in Cleveland. Police said he had ties to all of the location.
Vanderhoff was arraigned on the Wickliffe charges Wednesday, and his bond was set at $25,000. Police said additional charges are expected to be filed in other jurisdictions.
