Man Accused of Stealing from Churches Arrested

RAVENNA TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Portage County Sheriff David Doak announced on Friday that a man accused of thefts from area churches was arrested.

Nicholas Coppa, 24, of Ravenna Township, was charged with four counts of breaking and entering and one count of attempted breaking and entering after he allegedly targeted five different churches.

An investigation began Monday after the first report was made.

Coppa was accused of taking money, electronic equipment, tools and other small items he could easily carry.

Many of the items were recovered.

Coppa was being held at the Portage County Jail without bond.  He was scheduled to be arraigned Friday at 1:15 p.m.
