OAKLAND COUNTY, Mi. (WDIV) — A Detroit-area woman, who collected welfare after taking home $735,000 in lottery winnings, was sentenced to probation on Tuesday.

Amanda Clayton, 24, pleaded no contest to fraud charges last month.

She was sentenced to six-months probation and ordered to repay the welfare benefits.

She told the judge she realized she made a mistake.

“I do know that I made bad judgment and I’m willing to pay restitution and put this behind me,” Clayton said.

Clayton’s attorney says she already repaid the $5,500 in food aid and medical benefits she received.
