Lottery Winner Charged With Welfare Fraud, Found Dead

DETROIT — A lottery winner who made headlines after it revealed she was still on welfare has been found dead.

Amanda Clayton was charged with welfare fraud for continuing to collect food stamps after hitting the lottery in Michigan.

Friends found Clayton dead at her home in suburban Detroit Saturday morning.

Of the $1 million that Clayton won, reports say she only had about $67,000 left.

Results of an autopsy are pending.
