CLEVELAND, Ohio — A local storm chaser is sharing home video of the monster tornado that pulverized Moore, Okla., Monday afternoon.

Christie Lightfritz is a student at Ohio State University and a storm chaser from Northeast Ohio.

“I was like a mile away from this forming tornado. I saw the funnel drop. It was exhilarating, everything I had hoped to see,” said Lightfritz.

But as Lightfritz and her group of storm chasers started following the tornado, things got real.

“I kept thinking, ‘Oh my gosh. It’s not going back up, It’s getting bigger and bigger and it’s heading towards highly populated areas. This is not good. This is going to hurt people, kill people, and destroy things’,” said Lightfritz.

And that’s exactly what the EF5 tornado, the strongest category of all tornadoes, did.

The path of devastation is astounding.

“Traffic still is all backed up,” said Lightfritz. “I was talking to a guy yesterday who said his family is in Moore and he had no way to get in because they are blocking off most of the roads in.”

Lightfritz said she also witnessed several smaller tornadoes over the weekend. There’s no word on when she plans to return home.
