SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio-- A wanted man killed himself following a manhunt in Springfield Township Thursday afternoon.

Danny J. Hunka Jr., 41, was wanted in connection with a sexual battery investigation. When police went to question him on Tuesday, he fled on foot with a gun.

On Thursday, officers responded to the Spring Hill area just before 10 a.m. because Hunka was spotted in the woods.

Authorities asked drivers to avoid north of US 224, east of Neal Road and west of SR 532. They also said residents should lock their homes and shelter in place.

Police, with the help of the SWAT team, searched the area. Hunka was found in a construction trailer near South Cleveland Avenue.

Springfield Township police said he shot and killed himself when he realized officers located him.

No officers fired rounds. No civilians or police were injured.
