CLEVELAND, Ohio —  The Cleveland Water Department says one of its vehicles fell into a huge sinkhole on Thursday.

It happened at around noon on E. 127th Street near Coronado Ave. The sinkhole is about 6-10 feet deep.

Cleveland Water said it received a call about a possible 6-inch water main leak. As one of its investigators got out of the vehicle to look for the leak, the street began to collapse, and the vehicle fell into the hole.

The person inside the van was able to get out of the vehicle, so no one was injured.

Crews removed the vehicle from the sinkhole just before 7 p.m.; now, the damage is being assessed and repairs will be made.

Some people in the area were left without water due to the incident; Cleveland Water hopes to have service restored by early Friday morning if not sooner.

In the meantime, the city is bringing in a mobile water unit.

The street is closed to traffic until further notice.
