Two injured in ‘disturbance’ at Cuyahoga County juvenile detention center

CLEVELAND – Officials were called out to the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center on East 93rd and Quincy Avenues for a disturbance Monday evening.

A county spokesperson says that there were 12 juveniles involved in the disturbance that began around 7:30 p.m .

Of the twelve, 5 were taken to the Justice Center where they will be kept separate from the adult population. Seven others were kept at the Juvenile Center and will be kept separate from the rest of the juveniles there.

Two people received minor injuries: One juvenile was treated at scene for cuts.  One  deputy was also injured with cuts. He was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center.

No one escaped from the facility during the disturbance.  All of the juveniles in the facility were accounted for as of 10:15 p.m.

There was no word yet on what caused the initial disturbance.
