CLEVELAND (WJW) – Northeast Ohio woke up to a slippery, ice-covered start to the weekend in some places.

In others, roads were underwater.

In an unusual weather event, areas under flood warnings were also under a winter storm warning.

9:45 a.m.

  • There are 18 delays at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport and 14 cancellations. Check with your airline before you go.

9:30 a.m.

  • Expect lane closures on I-90 West beyond Vrooman Rd to SR-44, due to a crash.
  • The left lane is blocked on I-271/I-480 North beyond SR-14 to SR-14, due to a crash.
  • The right lane is blocked on I-480 East beyond SR-8/Warrensville Rd to I-480N East, due to a crash.
  • The left lane is blocked on I-480 West beyond I-77 to SR-17/SR-176, due to a crash.
  • The 2 left lanes are blocked on I-480 East beyond W 150th St/W 130th St to Tiedeman Rd, due to a crash.
  • Willow Trail is closed due to flooding, according to Summit Metroparks.

9:15 a.m.

  • SR183 northbound and southbound near Grovedell St. SE in Waynesburg is closed due to flooding, per the Stark Co. Sheriff’s Office.
  • FirstEnergy outages are just over 3,000.
  • Solon Road will be closed between Hawthorn Parkway and Richmond Road until further notice due to a water main break.
  • The City of Brunswick issued a parking ban at 9 a.m.

9 a.m.

  • Expect lane closures on I-90/SR-2 East at SR-283 East to E 140th St, due to a crash.

8:45 a.m.

  • Snow parking ban in effect for the City of Maple Heights

The following roads in Stark County are closed due to high water:

  • State Route 241 just south of Shuffle St.
  • SR 93 north of SR 241.
  • SR 93 at U.S. 62.
  • SR 619 between Freshly Ave and McCallum Ave.
  • SR 183 just south of SR 43.
  • SR 183 northbound and southbound near Grovedell St. SE in Waynesburg

8 a.m.

  • Expect lane closures on SR-8 North/SR-59 East at Cuyahoga Falls Ave, due to a crash.
  • The right lane is blocked on SR-8 North/SR-59 East at Cuyahoga Falls Ave to Howe Ave, due to a crash.
  • Expect lane closures on I-480 East beyond I-71 to W 150th St/W 130th St, due to a crash.

7:45 a.m.

  • FirstEnergy power outages are under 4,000
  • Lingering crashes on 480

7:30 a.m.

  • The left lane is blocked on I-271/I-480 North beyond SR-14 to SR-14, due to a crash.
  • The 2 right lanes are blocked on I-90 West at Hilliard Blvd to I-90, due to a crash.
  • The right lane is blocked on I-90/SR-2 East at Babbitt Rd, due to a crash.

7:10 a.m.

  • The left lane is blocked on I-480 West beyond I-77 to SR-17/SR-176, due to a crash.
  • The left shoulder is blocked on I-480 East beyond I-480N East to I-271, due to a crash.
  • Expect lane closures on I-77 North beyond Ghent Rd to SR-176, due to a crash.

7 a.m.

  • There are more than 200 school closings and delays, up from just 40 this morning. Check the list.

6:45 a.m.

  • The left shoulder is blocked on I-480 East beyond SR-94/SR-176/State Rd to SR-176 North, due to a crash.
  • The right lane is blocked on SR-8 North/SR-59 East at Portage Trail, due to a crash.
  • There are 6 delays in addition to the 14 cancellations at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.

6:40 a.m.

  • State Route 87 between SR 45 and SR 534 is closed due to high water. Motorists are advised to avoid this area.

6:15 a.m.

6:10 a.m.

The Tuscarawas County sheriff says the department had 7 water rescues overnight. All were people in their cars. The sheriff says many cars were left in the high waters.

6 a.m.

  • There are 14 cancellations so far at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, according to FlightAware. Updates here.
  • Expect lane closures on I-480 East beyond Tiedeman Rd to US-42/Ridge Rd, due to a crash.
  • All lanes are closed on SR-96 West at SR-13, due to flooding.
  • All lanes are closed on US-250 East at Township Road 4507 to CR-175, due to flooding.
  • All lanes are closed on SR-302 East at Silver Rd to W Old Lincoln Way, due to flooding.

5:45 a.m.

  • Our school closings have doubled in the last hour. Check the list here.
  • Expect lane closures on I-80 East (Ohio Turnpike) beyond SR-44 to SR-5, due to a crash.
  • Erie County is under a level 2 snow emergency. Check for updates here.

5:30 a.m.

  • All lanes are closed on SR-88 West at Mumford Rd to SR-305, due to flooding.
  • FirstEnergy outages are down slightly from earlier this morning, with about 5,400 without power.

5:15 a.m.

A tree fell on a car, knocking wires down in Cleveland. This video is from W. 22nd St and Boyer Ave.

5:10 a.m.

Due to heavy ice buildup on the overhead system, 66R buses replace Heavy Rail (Red Line) service from Tower City to the Airport, HealthLine buses replace Heavy Rail (Red Line) service from Tower City to Windermere station, and 67R buses replace Light Rail (Blue and Green Lines) service from Tower City to the Warrensville-Van Aken and Green Road stations.

Replacement buses are operating on a 30-minute frequency.

RTA continues to deploy ice cutter trains to clear ice buildup from the overhead system on the Light Rail and Heavy Rail Lines

RTA bus and Paratransit service continue to operate close to schedule with minor delays due to slick road conditions.

5:00 a.m.

  • ODOT reports more than 800 crews on the road
  • Brewster Fire reports State Route 93 south of the village limits is flooded
  • Patty says it will take at least 15 minutes to get the ice off your car this morning

4:30 a.m.

  • ODOT says more than 650 crews are treating the roads
  • Accumulations so far have been ice, sleet and snow
  • More than 6,800 FirstEnergy customers are without power
  • Expect lane closures on I-80 West (Ohio Turnpike) beyond I-77 to I-71, due to a crash
  • Speeds have been reduced on I-90 in Lake County
