CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation honored several Northeast Ohio law enforcement members Friday who showed courage in the line of duty.
Friday, the FBI’s Shield of Bravery was presented to Detective Parker Adrine Jr., Shaker Heights Police Department, Detective Michael Alexander, Cleveland Division of Police, Detective Todd Clark, Cleveland Division of Police, Detective James Cudo, Cleveland Division of Police and Detective Elbin Negron, Cleveland Division of Police.
The members were honored for their pursuit and apprehension of drug traffickers that engaged in a non-lethal shooting of a source during the operation. The recipients secured the source, assisted in the medical transport and apprehended the suspects.
Supervisory Special Agent Michael Brunswick, FBI, and Lieutenant Michael Connelly, Cleveland Division of Police, were also presented with Meritorious Achievement Awards.
Four members of the Summit County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team were awarded with the FBI’s Shield of Bravery.
Detective Larry Brown, Deputy Danny Francis, Deputy Larry Peters and Deputy Shane Smith were honored for their courageous acts during the arrest of a violent gang member.
The suspect’s father shot at the SWAT team. Despite the gunfire, the team was able to successfully arrest both the suspect and his father.
The Shield of Bravery and the Meritorious Achievement medal are among the highest bestowed by the FBI.
