ROCKY RIVER, Ohio -- A close bond between two coaches at Lutheran West High School in Rocky River is now a permanent bond.

A significant milestone in their journey together happened at the school on Wednesday night.

Girls soccer coach Jeff Bancroft desperately needed a new kidney to save his life. His friend and girls basketball coach Josh Campbell volunteered immediately.

"When he was coming into work the way he was and doing what he did on a daily basis most people would have stayed in bed," said Campbell. "Jeff struggled through it and being someone just witnessing what he was going through you couldn't do anything but want to help."

The transplant surgery took place at the Cleveland Clinic in December.

Josh is back at work already, and Jeff hopes to be back on the job soon. He visited the school for the girls' basketball game Wednesday night. It was his first trip to Lutheran West since the surgery.

It was an emotional trip.

"I coach for my players and my players are everything," he said. "They mean the world to me. It's just outstanding to come here and see them play and let them know that I am supporting them and that they are supporting me."

Both men are extremely faithful and believe that faith is powering their journey.
