KENT, Ohio -- Kent State University officials say a group supporting ISIS tweeted the school Thursday, during a journalism conference about ethics and covering terrorism.
A media relations official said the tweet included the conference hashtag with a link to ISIS's most recent video of a hostage.
"Needless to say, it made an impact on our students and staff," according to an email from the university.
Thursday's conference was located in Franklin Hall, and was titled "Data Minefields?"
The school's website says:
"The School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Kent State University will host Big Data & Privacy (BDP) Week Sept. 15-18, 2014, to raise campus awareness of and engagement with concepts of big data, privacy and what those concepts mean individually and globally. This is the first commemorative week of its kind at Kent State."
