CLEVELAND, Ohio — It’s time for trick-or-treating, and authorities recommend families and parents check for sex offenders in their neighborhoods.

The Ohio Attorney General’s Office provides a database for residents in any county to check their neighborhoods for registered sex offenders.

For that database, click here.

According to the state, registered sex offenders are not allowed to display any lights, decorations or items that attract attention.  Candy or treats are not allowed to be setup outside a door or on the front porch.  Also, all outside lights have to be off and many have to abide by a curfew.

If any fail to follow the rules, they could be cited by a probation officer and sent back to prison.
