CLEVELAND- A Cuyahoga County jury found accused gang leader Julius Webster guilty of murder on Monday.

He was found not guilty of the more serious charge of aggravated murder.

Prosecutors said Webster, 28, is the leader of the Heartless Felons, a gang that originated in Ohio prisons.

Webster’s trial started last month with strict courtroom rules to maintain safety and order. Courtroom visitors had to provide photo ID and were subjected to metal detector screenings. No phones were allowed because the judge feared photos could be used to intimidate witnesses.

When jurors were taken to locations of Webster’s alleged crimes, they were escorted by SWAT team members.

Webster was arrested in October 2013 for the murder of Curtis Leon Marks.
