CLEVELAND — One of Public Square’s historic restaurants is closing its doors after serving Clevelanders for decades.
John Q’s Steakhouse will close on June 15, owner Rick Cassara told Fox 8 News Thursday morning.
Cassara said shutting the restaurant down was a “business decision,” and that it was a sad day for his many longtime employees.
“It’s our time,” he said.
According to the restaurant’s website, John Q’s opened as one of the key Stouffers Restaurants from 1959-1979 and later emerged as John Q’s Public Bar & Grille. In 1987, the name was changed to John Q’s Steakhouse.
The downtown staple is best known for its sports-themed decor and fine dining menu.
