CLEVELAND, Ohio (WJW) – Dr. Jill Biden and former Vice President Senator Joe Biden left Cleveland Wednesday morning on the “Build Back Better Express” train tour.

The tour started in Cleveland at 9:45 a.m. and ends in Johnstown, Pennsylvania at 7:30 p.m. The train tour includes stops in Alliance, Pittsburgh, Greensburg, New Alexandria, and Latrobe.

Before stepping off on the tour, Biden spoke to a crowd at the Amtrak station. He referenced Tuesday’s explosive presidential debate in Cleveland, saying it was “supposed to be about Americans.”

He said President Trump believes America was built by Wall Street and not hard-working middle-class Americans. He frequently described himself as looking at things “from a Scranton perspective,” and Trump from “Park Avenue perspective.”

“Does your president understand at all what you’re going through,” Biden said. “Does he see you where you are and where you want to be? Does he care? Has he tried to walk in your shoes to understand what’s going on in your life? Or does he just ignore you and all the folks all over America who are in a similar situation?”

Biden highlighted Trump’s response to the coronavirus pandemic, what he said was a lack of pulling “Congress together for” economic relief, and plans to “destroy the Affordable Care Act.”

He ended by saying:

“I will always tell you the truth. I’ll always care about you whether you voted for me or not. If I’m elected, I’m not going to be a democratic president, I’m going to be an American president. I’ll never forget the working people of this country because that’s where I come from. And that if given just half a chance, the American people can do anything.”
