The accolades keep piling up for Cleveland Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving, as he was named the NBA’s Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month for February.
The award comes less than a week after Irving earned MVP honors at the NBA Rising Stars Challenge held over All-Star weekend.
Irving averaged 19.3 points in 10 games in February, which ranked tops amongst Eastern Conference rookies.
But scoring isn’t the only category where Irving was head of the class. He also was the Eastern Conference’s top rookie in assists, three-point percentage and free throw percentage.
For the month, Irving shot 41-43 (.953) from the free throw line and has currently made 31 consecutive free throws.
Irving also won the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month award for games played in December and January.
