CLEVELAND — Investigators have released new video of the suspect wanted for the rape of a female jogger.

It happened on September 2 at 5:25 a.m.

The Cleveland Division of Police Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit said the victim, a 46-year-old woman, was jogging on West 104th St. when a male ran up behind her and attacked her. She was knocked to the ground.

Police said the suspect punched her in the face and body and pistol whipped her before dragging her behind a building and raping her.

The new video is from an apartment building surveillance camera on Lake Ave. Investigators say it shows the suspect walking east along Lake and then hiding behind what appears to a hedge or large bush.

A few seconds later, a woman comes walking by from the opposite direction. Shortly after she passes, investigators say the attacker re-emerges from his hiding place and runs after her.

*Note from police: You may notice in the video that the victim seems to disappear from view as she passes a tree; there is a lapse in visual due to the obstruction of the tree and the camera system being activated by motion. Also, the time stamp on the video is incorrect.*

The suspect is described as a black male, 5’6″-5-7″. Investigators hope someone recognizes him in the new video.

The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office said investigators believe the same man is responsible for the attack on a woman in Lakewood in August.

A reward is being offered in the case. Crime Stoppers is offering $2,000; and the running group, ‘Moms Run This Town,’ has donated an additional $1,000.

Donations from a 5K event called ‘Take Back the Run’ will go towards the reward. It will be held this Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Edgewater Park. *Click for more information*
