LAFAYETTE, Louisiana – Lafayete police chief Jim Craft confirms that 3 people are dead, including the shooter, after a shooting at a Lafayette movie theater.

Craft said at a news conference that seven victims were wounded and their injuries ranged from not life-threatening to critical.

Authorities have not released the identity of the gunman but say the 58-year-old white man died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Daily Advertiser said the shooting occurred during a 7 p.m. showing of ‘Trainwreck’ and occurred about 20 minutes after the movie began.

Katie Domingue was at the movie with Joshua Doggett.

“We heard a loud pop we thought was a firecracker,” she told The Daily Advertiser.

She saw “an older white man” standing up and shooting down, not in her direction.

“He wasn’t saying anything. I didn’t hear anybody screaming either,” Domingue said.

She heard about six shots, then she and Doggett ran to the nearest exit, leaving behind her shoes and purse.
