PAINESVILLE, Ohio — The iguana that was thrown inside a Painesville restaurant was reunited with its original owner Friday.

Arnold Teeter was arrested after pulling Copper from under his shirt at a Perkins Restaurant back in April. He swung the iguana and then threw it at the manager, leaving the reptile with a broken leg.

It turns out, the iguana escaped from its owner last summer. Jordan Piert was in the middle of moving to Virginia when the iguana got away. They alerted neighbors and searched the yards, but didn’t find the animal.

Piert called police after seeing the story on Facebook, and the Lake Humane Society was able to confirm ownership by using photos and medical records.

“We talked about how much we missed her all the time,” Piert said.

Copper will also be reunited with another Piert’s other iguana after their drive to back to Virginia.
