AKRON, OH – “The Last of Us….”…the last of a once famous mall.

Demolition has begun on Rolling Acres Mall in Akron. In its prime, the mall, which was built in 1975, was home to over 140 stores, a movie theater and a food court.

The mall, aside from two anchor stores, closed in 2008. Five years later, the final retailer, JCPenney, shut its doors. After there were no bids for Rolling Acres at the sheriff’s sale, the deed was transferred to the city of Akron.

Seph Lawless has captured images of abandoned theaters, factories and homes, both here in his hometown of Cleveland and across the country. He is sharing his haunting video from Rolling  Acres Mall…with never-before seen drone video of both exterior and interior of the abandoned mall.
