CLEVELAND — The Chicago White Sox posted an 11-0 win over the Indians on Monday night in a late bid to stay alive in the fight for the American League Central division.

Chicago came into the game, played before a very sparse crowd at Progressive Field trailing the Detroit Tigers by 3 games with 3 games left on the schedule.  With the win, Chicago still needed the Tigers to lose in their game against the Royals to have any chance whatsoever.

The White Sox got to Indians starter Corey Kluber in the 6th inning. Adam Dunn drove in the first run, courtesy of a single to center field.  Dewayne Wise scored and the visitors were off and running. Alex Rios followed with a single to left field to score Dunn and the White Sox led 2-0 and Kluber was on his way to the showers.  Joe Smith relieved and the White Sox added two more runs on singles by A. J. Pierzynski and Dayan Viciedo.

White Sox starter Hector Santiago was dominant on the hill for Chicago. The only hit he gave up in his 8 innings on the mound was a single by Shin Soo Choo in the bottom of the third.  Choo was stranded on first as Jason Kipnis grounded out.

As the White Sox celebrated their win, they saw the scoreboard and the Tigers were leading the Royals by a  score of 6-2 in the 6th inning
