Independence police investigate suspicious fires

INDEPENDENCE, Ohio– The Independence Police Department is investigating a series of suspicious fires Monday morning.

There were a couple brush fires and a shed on fire off of Hemlock Road and Hemoga Street at about 5 a.m., Police Chief Michael Kilbane said. No one was hurt.

Kilbane said it appears the fires were intentionally set. Officers were searching for a person who was spotted in the area.
