Alleged Amish Beard Cutting Photo Released

CLEVELAND — A new photo is released in the trial of an Amish leader, and more than a dozen of his followers, accused of committing hate crimes against fellow Amish members.

There was also dramatic testimony Wednesday as two alleged victims took the stand.

The trial at U.S. District Court in downtown Cleveland is getting national attention.  The defendants are accused of disfiguring their alleged victims over an internal religious dispute.

Thousands Rescued as Waters Rise From Isaac

(CNN) — Louisiana and Mississippi officials conducted search-and-rescue missions Wednesday for residents stranded by slow-moving Tropical Storm Isaac, which flooded homes and pushed water over the top of several levees.

While Isaac lost its hurricane status Wednesday afternoon, officials warned of continued life-threatening hazards from storm surges and local flooding.

67 Arrested in ‘Operation Meth Death’

ASHTABULA COUNTY, OHIO – Dozens of homes were raided by deputies and officers in Ashtabula and Lake Counties Wednesday morning, where people were suspected of making methamphetamine.

Ashtabula County Prosecutor Thomas Sartini said 67 suspected meth-makers were arrested, in what is being called “Operation Meth Death.”
