Original Story:
INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Metropolitan police confirmed they’ve spotted a monkey currently loose on the far east side.
According to IMPD, the sighting happened Thursday morning in the 10000 block of Ironway Drive.
The monkey, named Momo, was spotted running down the street. A dog barked at Momo, startling the monkey and causing him to jump into some trees. Officers were nearby searching the area, and one of them had a large net.
An Indianapolis Animal Care Services transport vehicle was also at the scene. Momo’s owner arrived and was trying to coax him out with a peach.
On Wednesday, IMPD said two officers were dispatched around 6:38 p.m. to the 500 block of Ironridge Court after receiving calls about a monkey that had escaped a residence near Ironridge Court off of S. Mitthoefer Road.
Animal control officers also responded.

IMPD confirmed that some minor injuries have been reported. However, it is unclear if this was caused by bites.
The last reported sighting on Wednesday was in the 10000 block of Gate Drive. IMPD urged anyone in the area to avoid approaching Momo.
