CLEVELAND – The FOX 8 I TEAM has obtained exclusive video of a citizen with a gun confronting crooks committing a crime happening throughout Northeast Ohio.

This incident happened last week off West 130th in Cleveland at about 4 a.m. Harold Daniels has security cameras on his home along with motion sensors.

The video shows thieves creeping down the street checking car doors and rifling through vehicles that they found open. When Daniels heard a motion alarm outside his house, he stepped out with his gun and chased away the bad guys.

He showed us video of the same thing happening before, and he’s had enough.

Daniels told the I TEAM, “That’s what makes the difference, when it’s your car.”  He added, “’Cause you don’t know what’s gonna happen next. Are they gonna come in the house?”

Police say, at the very least, you should lock your car doors and be sure not to leave valuables in sight as a way to guard against these kinds of thieves.

However, Daniels pointed out, a thief broke into his car before even with the doors locked.

Daniels and others on his block would like to see more police patrols.
