STARK COUNTY - A Stark County woman is thankful to be alive after she had a medical emergency while driving Wednesday night.

She crossed the railroad tracks, had a seizure and went off to the right side of the road.

She drove into a ravine along State Route 93 in Sugar Creek Township.

"About that time I realized, and then I looked around and I had water on my floorboard," she said.

Melissa Jo Shoup was fortunate, because her husband happened to be traveling behind her and saw her go off the road.

He went into the water, pulling her to safety.

"I'm relieved, it scared me. I was very scared but I was glad that my husband was with me."

Melissa's car was totaled, but she did not have any serious injuries.
