MIDDLEFIELD, Ohio — Ten members of an Amish family were injured in some capacity and one child was killed during a house fire in Middlefield Wednesday night.

According to the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office, the fire broke out on Peters Road.

Victims were taken to University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center, Hillcrest Hospital and MetroHealth Medical Center, according to fire officials.

Officials said at least three LifeFlight helicopters reportedly transported victims to local hospitals.  Others were transported via ambulance.

One victim was reportedly taken out of the home unresponsive.

According to UH Geauga, a two-year-old was dead upon arrival.

A father and his 13-year-old son have also been admitted to UH Geagua for treatment of burns and smoke inhalation, the hospital told FOX 8.

UH Geagua said that two other children, ages 10 and 12, were transported to Metro with severe burns.

Officials told FOX 8 the victims range in age.  The youngest victim was reportedly one and the oldest was in their early 40s.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Crews from multiple agencies were on scene assisting.
