Corrections Officer Held Hostage for 5 Hours at Trumbull County Jail

WARREN, Ohio-- A corrections officer, who was held hostage for several hours at the Trumbull County Jail on Wednesday, was released unharmed around 8:30 p.m.

Authorities said three inmates took the officer hostage just after 3 p.m.

Right after the situation began, sources told the FOX 8 I-Team's Peggy Sinkovich that one of the inmates involved was David Martin. Martin is facing capital murder charges.

Authorities said the other two inmates involved were Richard Ware and Kevin Johns; Ware is in jail for aggravated robbery, Johns for rape.

According to sheriff officials, the inmates used bed sheets to tie the door shut.

Sources said the corrections officer was taken to a Trumbull County hospital to be evaluated. He did not suffer any serious injuries.

The three inmates involved are being sent to a maximum security facility in Youngstown.
