FORT MYERS, Florida– A Florida high school student says she was stripped of her National Honor Society position because of the dress she was wearing during a speech at a school-sponsored event.
Seventeen-year-old Cam Boland’s shoulders were showing in the dress. Boland said she was wearing a jacket, but took it off when she got hot.
Having exposed shoulders goes against school policy; but, according to WFTX, code of conduct states students should first be given a warning.
Boland, who is also class president, told WFTX, “I was told I won and 20 minutes later they said I could not be in my position because I had my shoulders exposed.”
The Lee County School Board is now looking into this.
