NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio -- "Baseball, football and we were trying to get him into fishing because that's what his grandpa wanted," said Dewey Black.

His nephew, Bruce-Malik Wayne Adams, was struck and killed by a hit and run driver Thursday night. Someone left the sophomore North Olmsted High School student lying in the street.

As the investigation progressed on Friday, details slowly emerged about a how Malik died before his body was found.

Police said Adams, 15, was struck by a car.

Authorities were alerted around 11:30 p.m. Thursday after Adams was discovered on Brookpark Road in North Olmsted near the Target and Walmart entrances.

Because there were no witnesses and Adams was not carrying an ID, it was difficult at first to determine what happened.

"As of now, we don't have any eye witnesses," said Capt. Mike Kilbane, North Olmsted Police.  "It's a dark roadway and divided, no lights and heavily traveled. The victim's injuries were substantial. There will be noticeable damage to the car or truck that did this."

Police need more leads. No tip is too small. Call North Olmsted Police if you can help.
