CLEVELAND, Ohio –The Cleveland Division of Police Mounted Unit needs your support to stick around!
The CPMU relies on the support of a charitable trust, which contributes to the purchases of horses, food, shelter and medical care. It costs about $170 to support one horse per day, but Cleveland police hope to add a few more equine officers by this summer, specifically because of the increased pedestrian traffic the new casino will likely generate downtown.
To help bring attention to the cause, CPD enlisted the help of some animals with major horsepower.
Remember those famous Budweiser Clydesdale horses? Well, they’re in town for Opening Day at Progressive Field, and they’re staying with the Cleveland police horses!
You can get an up-close look at the Clydesdales and their local friends at the CPMU on East 38th Street. It’s open to the public through next Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
