NORTHFIELD, Ohio-- It's not every day you see a helicopter carrying a chainsaw.
FirstEnergy used a helicopter to trim trees near high-voltage lines along a Summit Metro Parks trail in Northfield Friday morning.
The chopper's saw is suspended below and consists of several 24-inch rotary blades attached to a vertical boom. FirstEnergy said it cuts 8 to 10-inch limbs, which fall straight down because of the helicopter's air blasts.
The debris is later collected by a crew on the ground.
The hiking and biking path was closed temporarily for the work.
