‘Tis the season for holiday drinks! As the weather gets cooler and the holiday lights come up, you may get the urge for an Eggnog Latte or Peppermint Mocha, but health experts are warning consumers about how much sugar is actually in the tasty beverages.
According to the Huffington Post, these holiday drinks are packed with sugar. A Dunkin’ Donuts Peppermint Mocha Latte has 73 grams of sugar per large cup, which isn’t even the most sugary drink on the market, but has more sugar than eight Christmas cookies or two cans of Coke.
The American Heart Association recommends women eat no more than six teaspoons of added a sugar a day, nine teaspoons for men. That amounts to 24 grams for women and 36 grams for men in just one day.
