VIENNA, Austria– A new study says dogs are able to sniff out lung cancer.

That’s according to a pilot project being done in Austria. The findings were published Wednesday.

Peter Errhalt, one of the authors of the study, told AFP, “Dogs have no problem identifying tumor patients.”

The test saw dogs achieve a %70 success rate identifying cancer from 120 breath samples.

Michael Mueller, who collaborated on the project, says this could help diagnose lung cancer in the early stages, improving survival rates.

The results back up other evidence of odd canine behavior when around cancer sufferers.
