AKRON, Ohio — Grief counselors were available at an Akron school Wednesday to help students and staff deal with the death of a bus driver.

Laura Zborowski, 51, of Akron, was killed right outside of Middlebury Academy on Kent Drive before classes Tuesday morning.

Police said she was helping the last student evacuate the bus during a safety drill when the vehicle started to move.

Zborowski is credited with saving the child by pushing her to the side, but couldn’t get out of the way in time.

Neighbors described Zborowski as a “giving person.”  Others called her a “pure hero.”

The Ohio State Highway Patrol moved the bus to a different location to conduct a thorough inspection.
