George H. W. Bush’s letter to Bill Clinton after losing presidency goes viral

As the presidential election gets more and more divisive, a letter written in 1993 by George H.W. Bush is going viral after Wednesday night’s debate. 

During the debate, Donald Trump was asked by moderator Chris Wallace if he’d accept the results of the November election.

Trump said, “I will look at it at the time. I will keep you in suspense.”

After the debate, Bush’s letter started popping up on social media.

Bush wrote the letter to Bill Clinton after losing to him in the 1992 election.

In it, Bush wished Clinton “great happiness.”

“There will be very tough times, made even more difficult by criticism you may not think is fair. I’m not a very good one to give advice; but just don’t let the critics discourage you or push you off course. You will be OUR president when you read this note. I wish you well. I wish your family well.”
