WILLOUGHBY HILLS, Ohio – A very well-known home designed by a very famous architect is going up for sale.
"It's time to pass this unique property onto its next owner,” said current owner, Paul Penfield.
He said it’s time to say goodbye to the house. It’s been in his family for decades.
His father, Louis, was a big fan of Frank Lloyd Wright and personally asked him to design the home back in 1953. It was completed in 1955.
If you get a chance to take a look inside, you’ll notice the very tall doors. They were designed for Louis, who was 6’8”.
Paul said he never realized growing up how different his house was from others. "I thought everyone lived like this and that didn't necessarily prepare me for the world after high school,” he said as he laughed.
The house has three bedrooms and 1.5 baths. There are also a lot of windows; many spanning from floor to ceiling.
“His idea was to open up all the spaces you could in a house to allow the outside to be viewed and to allow the occupant who was inside to engage with the outside,” Penfield said of Wright’s work.
He plans to sell the property for $1.7 million. It includes the main house, plus two others.
