BRECKSVILLE, OH — Saturday’s forecasted flooding is already proving to be dangerous.
Because of excessive flooding, the National Park Service has closed the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park until further notice. According to officials, the trail closure includes associated parking lots from Lock 39 Trailhead in Independence to Botzum Trailhead in Akron.
Because of the closures, The Polar Express was cancelled for Saturday night. All tickets will automatically be refunded.
The Winter Warm-ups hike scheduled for 9 a.m. Sunday has also been cancelled.
The National Park service staff will make assessments of trail conditions before reopening.
