AKRON, Ohio — Fire crews are on the scene of a recycling center fire in Akron.

The fire is at the Recycling Coordinators Inc. building at 600 East Exchange Street. Firefighters say the fire is under control.

East Exchange Street is blocked off between Fountain and Beaver. Annandale is also closed at East Exchange Street.

Firefighters say the fire was caused by a large pile of metal shavings that apparently spontaneously ignited and caused a small part of the roof to catch fire.

The roads will remain closed or partially closed as the situation winds down. Drivers are advised to avoid the area until normal traffic can be restored.
