NEW YORK — A mother dealing with her young son’s major health blow has taken on Norwegian Cruise Lines.
According to WNYW, Tara and Philip Colucci’s 5-year-old son, Nicolas, was diagnosed with cancer two weeks before the family was set to leave on a dream cruise.
It required immediate surgery, and the family knew they had to reschedule their trip. But they didn’t have traveler’s insurance, and they say Norwegian Cruise Line told them they couldn’t reschedule or get a refund.
They lost over $4,000.
The cruise line said in a statement that “We spoke with the family and explained that while we could not make an exception to our policy, we would assist them when they were ready to re-book their cruise.”
Tara took her story to Facebook and got support from all over.
In fact, after their story went public, the CEO of a popular cruise line reached out to their family and offered them a free cruise. He asked not to be identified.
